(KMOV) – A new hotel will open downtown in two weeks, which could mean new jobs in the area.
A quarter of a billion dollar development of retail, entertainment and residential space on Washington Avenue could become the key to a renaissance in St. Louis’ downtown. The Mercantile Exchange project is bringing an Embassy Suites Hotel and apartments, a national blues museum and new restaurants between 6th and 7th streets on the north side.
Eateries area also coming to the south side, where there’s already an office tower. That’s next door to a soon-to-open movie theater.
This massive project is creating jobs, and SLATE, the St. Louis Agency on Training and Development is hiring for the project, including for the new hotel which opens October 5. Embassy Suites is looking for workers to assist in food service, housekeeping and maintenance.
