(KMOV) – Police searched for evidence of illegal drug sales at the Red Roof Liquor and Lottery story and gas station off Route 3 on South Port Drive in Columbia, Illinois.

Thursday afternoon, officers and U.S. Marshals served the gas station a search warrant.

The gas station is located in an area where very few businesses are nearby. There are also no homes around, but it gets a lot of road traffic from Route 3.

Police won’t say what they took from the business or whether any drugs were actually found, but from the outside News 4 cameras could see the cash box pulled out from under the register.

Police did not make any arrests. They say they are reviewing the items they picked up in the search, and will then take the case to the state’s attorney.

The most recent owner of the gas station bought it in 2005, but News 4 was unable to get in touch with the owner.
