(KMOV) -- Some taxpayers are outraged over the major tax break two casinos got after appealing their bills, but at least one of the board members responsible is sticking by the decision.
The River City Casino, and Harrah's got their tax bills reduced by millions of dollars. Leslie Broadnax, of the St. Louis County Board of Equalization says the board did the right things slashing the casino's tax bills and she says she won't change her mind.
The board members heard the casinos appeal and cut Harrah's tax bill nearly $8 million and River City's over $3.5 million. The tax cut resulted into budget cuts from the county's all the way down to two local school districts.
County Executive Charley Dooley, heard about the tax break at a South County town hall meeting and said he is not happy about it. However, Dooley can not influence the decisions.
