(KMOV.com) -- A dispatcher with the East St. Louis Police Department has been arrested after police said she sent a text message to a fugitive, warning him that officers were on their way to apprehend him.
Shantez Lockett, 35, was arrested on Wednesday and now faces multiple charges. Police say Locket was working as a dispatcher in East St. Louis on June 28th when she texted Maurice Williams to let him know that police were approaching his location to arrest him. She has been charged with one count of Aiding a Fugitive.
Lockett was also charged with one count of Obstructing Justice and Obstructing a Peace Officer after she deleted the text message, destroying evidence. Two counts of Official Misconduct arose from the other charges.
Lockett's bond is currently set at $20,000.
