(KMOV)— Two federal court officers were forced to call 911 after shots are fired in a Maryland Heights home. It resulted in a nearly a one hour standoff and ended with a suspect taking his own life.
This happened Friday afternoon in the 11,000 block of Galaxy Court, just off Lindbergh.
According to authorities, a 44-year-old man facing prison time for dozens of pornographic images of children, took his own life while meeting with those federal court officers Friday. They were checking on his bond status when he ran from the room.
When the man ran from the room and those officers heard a gunshot, they fled the house and called 911.
Maryland Heights Tactical Units surrounded the home and eventually they entered through a back door.
Police said they had good reason to be cautious because the suspect had many firearms inside the house.
Police have not identified the suicide victim at this point. His federal record shows that he pleaded guilty to two counts of child porn this past December. He was scheduled to be sentenced on March 9th. He faced up to 10 years in prison for his guilty plea.
