Madison: Man charged with trying to sell drugs

(KMOV)-- A Metro East man was charged for allegedly trying to sell drugs.

Brandon Houston, 23, of Madison, Illinois was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Authorities said Houston was operating a vehicle in the Eagle Park Acres subdivision in Madison, Illinois. A deputy observed Houston’s vehicle parked in the roadway. Houston saw the deputy approaching and drove away.

The deputy stopped Houston’s vehicle on Watson Street. The deputy could smell an odor of cannabis coming from the inside of the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was performed and over 74 grams of a substance that tested positive for cannabis was found. The cannabis was packaged in a manner that it would be offered for sale.

Houston was taken to the Madison County Jail. Bond was set at $75,000.
