(KMOV)-- The St. Louis Police Department staged a mock crime scene Tuesday morning to test the skills of some of their officers.
The crime scene was designed to test officers interested in the Evidence Technician Unit (ETU).
There are fewer than 50 ETU labs in the country. ETU has existed for more than 40 years, but the department recently started this new type of training.
Officers interested in ETU must also pass testing in areas including DNA, drug chemistry, and firearms.
The training is part of the St. Louis Police Department’s efforts to make the ETU a part of its overall lab re-accreditation, which is due in 2012.
