The Cardinals are in Jupiter, Florida for spring training. Our own Brian Feldman is in the middle of all the action. Brian will provide constant updates, so check back through the day for the very latest news.

Feb. 22, 10:32 a.m. - Berkman got a 4 seam fastball from Carp right down the middle and said immediately "never seen one of those before". Couldn't believe he would see a pitch like that from Carpenter in an AB.

Feb. 22, 10:30 a.m. - After Holliday swings and misses on the final pitch of his "at-bat" Yadi runs out and tags him as if its a drop 3rd strike.

Feb. 22, 10:27 a.m. - Carpenter cursing himself after many pitches like normal. Never happy.

Feb. 22, 10:14 a.m. - Fans and players all flock to Field 3. Must be something going on. Oh ya...Chris Carpenter is about to throw live BP to Pujols, Holliday and Berkman among others.

Feb. 22, 10:12 a.m. - Nick Derba gets his bat shattered by Mitchell Boggs on a great pitch in. Boggs got rave reviews from the pitching coach for that one.

Feb. 22, 10:11 a.m. - New guy Brian Tallet clearly has no idea where he's going. Walks through the crowd to get to his bullpen session. In case you're wondering there is a FIELD they can go on to avoid the fans. Kind of funny.

Feb. 22, 10:09 a.m. - I asked Kyle Lohse what the pitchers do in all their down time before they throw live BP. He says "mentally prepare". Yes I do believe he was kidding.

Feb. 22, 9:32 a.m. - Greene boots another backhand. Not trying to blast the guy. It's just warm up--time to get loose. But he just doesn't look terribly smooth out there. Maybe he thinks too much. Got a ton of talent. Want to see him do well.

Feb. 22, 9:30 a.m. - Tyler Greene actually taking some grounders at SS now. Immediately lets one go under his glove.

Feb. 22, 9:29 a.m. - Gosh this weather here is perfect. Slight breeze. Tad overcast. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Feb. 22, 9:23 a.m. - Bill Parcells back in the house. Very good friends with Tony La Russa... obviously.

Feb. 22, 9:15 a.m. - AJ Pujols walking around in his mini #5 jersey. I hope that kid realizes how lucky he is. What a life.

Feb. 22, 9:13 a.m. - Heard a fan yell "Hey, Yadimir" at Yadier Molina. Thought he might be kidding, ya know, like it was a nickname he gave him. It wasn't. Actually thought that was his name. Ouch.

Feb. 22, 9:10 a.m. - Tony says its way too early to get a read on Allen Craig as a 3rd baseman. They're only fielding easy ground balls now. Got to wait until they do more difficult stuff before they judge him.
Feb. 22, 9:04 a.m. - Tony on Shelby. Sees a very mature and confident person in him. Not on the "list" you want to be on...which is where Duncan maps out your whole spring.

Feb. 22, 9:02 a.m. - Tony does his daily media chat. Too early to get a read on Greene as an outfielder. Loves that he played winter ball. Says that can make a big difference for someone.

Feb. 22, 8:46 a.m. - Team filming the "Play Like a Cardinal" promos now. Except I hear its
going to be called "Cardinal Nation" this year.

Feb. 22, 8:24 a.m. - Miller admits he was a thrower in high school and is a pitcher now. Totally different person. Actually throwing a sinker now. Knows all that will help him.

Feb. 22, 8:15 a.m. - Boggs wants to build on what he did last year. Knows he was good but can be even better. Says this team has a ton of talent but that means nothing. Last year's team did too and they missed the playoffs.

Feb. 22, 8:11 a.m. - Greene wants to be a Major Leaguer all year long. Knows he's been here a while and has to step up. Trying to be as versatile as possible.

Feb. 22, 8:10 a.m. - Just taped interviews with Tyler Greene, Mitchell Boggs and Shelby Miller.

Feb. 22, 7:39 a.m. - Carpenter and Lohse among those throwing live BP today. Shelby Miller also on the list. Can't wait to see him.
