(KMOV) -- St. Louis police are searching for a suspect accused of  shooting a man in south St. Louis.
 
The shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday in the 3300 block of Nebraska, near the intersection of Utah.
 
The victim tells police that he was driving southbound on Nebraska when the suspect waived him down. The suspect allegedly tried to rob the victim
 
When the victim didn't comply, the suspect reportedly shot the victim in the stomach.
 
The victim drove away and called police. He was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
 
The suspect is described as a black man, 5'7 with a medium complexion, medium length dreadlocks and wearing all black clothing.
 
Police are still searching for the suspect.
