(KMOV) -- A 33-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a car in north St. Louis.

Police say Angela Coleman, 33, was crossing the street in the 2500 block of North Grand when she was hit. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Witnesses tell St. Louis police that Coleman fell in the middle of the northbound lanes while she was trying to cross the street.

As she was trying to stand up, witnesses say she stepped into the southbound lanes. That's when she was hit by a car.

Coleman was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The vehicle left the scene of the crash. Police are still looking for the driver.

Police are hoping survellance video will lead to the suspect.

This is the second fatal accident since January, killing three people, along the stretch of Grand between North Market and St. Louis Avenue.
