The Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida for spring training. Our own Brian Feldman is in the middle of all the action. Brian will provide constant updates, so check back through the day for the very latest news.

Feb. 19, 10:29 a.m. - No plans to sign anyone to replace what Edmonds would have given. Maybe later but not now. Probably depends on how guys like Jon Jay perform.

Feb. 19, 10:26 a.m. - Mo says the deal was not signed so as of now Edmonds doesn't retire a Cardinal. But that is a possibility in the future.

Feb. 19, 10:25 a.m. - GM John Mozeliak speaks about Edmonds. Says he respects the decision. They knew health was an issue going in.

Feb. 19, 10:19 a.m. - Edmonds says he can still play but he doesn't want to risk permanent injury. Not worth the chance.

Feb. 18, 10:18 a.m. - Jim Edmonds announces retirement. Achilles injury too much to endure

Feb. 18, 10:17 a.m. - Hearing things on Edmonds are not good. Stay tuned.

Feb. 18, 9:56 a.m. - Looks like Nick Stavinoha is solely working as a catcher this spring. Catching Brian Augestein in a bullpen session right now. Haven't even seen him as an outfielder.

Feb. 18, 9:45 a.m. - Wainwright, Westbrook and Garcia intently watching PJ Walters, Fernando Salas and Adam Ottavino throw their bullpen sessions. Seeing if there is anything worth noting to them. Most organizations don't have this.

Feb. 18, 9:25 a.m. - Matt Holliday says the over/under for how many of Skip's final 4 batting practice swings goes out of the park is 2. How many bombs does Skip then hit? 2.

Feb. 18, 8:59 a.m. - Tony talking about the bench spots and who will get exposure where. They really want to get Allen Craig time at 3rd base behind David Freese. Punto will get some time. Maybe Descalso. Tyler Greene to get some OF practice this spring.

Feb. 18, 8:49 a.m. - There is an update on Edmonds but Tony won't say what it is. Something "official" might come out soon. Hmmmmm.

Feb. 18, 8:46 a.m. - If Berkman needs a break in drills...Tony says he'll get it. McGwire is going to keep a close eye on him so he's as fresh as possible.

Feb. 18, 8:45 a.m. - Tony La Russa says the fact Berkman arrived on the reporting date is totally fine. He's got such an incredible reputation. He's not working from zero...shouldn't feel like he has to do something foolish to prove anything.

Feb. 18, 8:26 a.m. - AJ Pujols getting a lot of media attention today. The 4th grader is a first baseman, second baseman, outfielder and pitcher. Hits righty and throws lefty.

Feb. 18, 8:09 a.m. - No, Berkman says he hadn't done any OF stuff this offseason. Says his wife is okay with the fungo but is better with ground balls than fly balls. I'm assuming he was joking...

Feb. 18, 8:07 a.m. - Today is the last day of Berkman's offseason he says. Tomorrow is the beginning of the long process of the 2011 season.

Feb. 18, 8:05 a.m. - Berkman admits he's the biggest question mark of the lineup. Says you know what you'll get from Pujols and Holliday and if he can hit then this can be a great lineup.

Feb. 18, 8:04 a.m. - In ideal world Berkman says he would play 3-4 days and then get a day off...play 3-4 days and get a day off...etc...

Feb. 18, 8:00 a.m. - Berkman says he's "indifferent" with the outfield because he's been going back and forth from 1st to the OF his whole career.

Feb. 18, 7:58 a.m. - Berkman says he knows so many of the guys in this clubhouse from competing all those years. Makes this transition that much easier.

Feb. 18, 7:56 a.m. - Berkman says if a game broke out right now he would be ready to go. Feels great.

Feb. 18, 7:34 a.m. - The "zoo" is gone. Back to normal now that Albert's story goes on hiatus til the end of the season.

Feb. 18, 7:31 a.m. - Lance Berkman is here now too. So that's everyone. All have reported.

Feb. 18, 7:29 a.m. - Schedule is up. Wainwright, Westbrook and Garcia throwing bullpens first. Lots of PFP other than that. Last day of only pitchers and catchers. Tomorrow is first full squad workout.
