COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- The troopers of Illinois State Police District 11, who patrol Madison, St. Clair, Clinton, Bond and Monroe counties, say they had a busy time of it during 2010 -- especially on the traffic front.
According to a yearly summary obtained by the Belleville News-Democrat, District 11 handled more than 61,000 incidents, issued nearly 29,000 traffic citations and more than 13,700 warnings. Those include nearly 10,000 speeding tickets.
The troopers investigated more than 3,400 traffic accidents, including 69 fatal crashes that killed a total of 74 people.
They also made more than 2,200 criminal arrests during 2010, seizing more than 233 pounds of marijuana and more than $91,000 in cash.
