(KMOV) -- A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty in a flare gun shooting in St. Charles County in February.

Randy Keith Voerg Jr. pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and was originally sentenced to seven years in prison but instead received a suspended sentence and is on probation.

Police say the incident occurred in the first block of Barberry Lane when Voerg shot another man in the chest with a flare gun following an argument about Voerg's girlfriend.
