(KMOV.com) – Police said a Lincoln County man took his girlfriend hostage and ignited a home on fire.

Lincoln County deputies were called to the first 100 block of Devin Drive in Troy in regards to a domestic assault complaint. When authorities arrived, they said Charles “Trey” Reef, 17, barricaded himself in the home and refused to speak to authorities.

Police said that Reef’s girlfriend was eight months pregnant and had transportation arrangements with a family member to see the doctor. The family member, however, would not allow Reef to ride along because she did not like him.

Reef was upset and allegedly began threatening everybody in the home with a butcher knife. Police said he went on to douse himself in gasoline and threatened to light himself and the home on fire. Police said the girlfriend’s mother and two siblings managed to escape, but Reef held his girlfriend hostage.

The girlfriend was able to escape, but Reef barricaded himself in the home and ignited a pile of trash on fire, police said. He continued to threaten authorities saying he would kill them in the fire.

Deputies finally subdued Reef with a stun gun. Reef was taken into custody while Lincoln County Fire Protection extinguished the fire. Nobody was injured.

Reef was charged with felony arson in the first degree and felony assault on law enforcement in the first degree. He is currently housed in a mental health facility for evaluation. He is being held on a $250,000 cash only bond.
