(KMOV.com) -- St. Louis viewers know Channel 4 today as KMOV, but it didn’t begin that way.
We began as KWK and then became KMOX when CBS bought the station in 1958.
It changed once more in 1986. The station had been owned for almost 30 years by CBS, but it was purchased by Viacom and the ‘X’ changed to a ‘V’ and it’s been the same for the past 28 years.
1986 was also a big year for the anchor desk as KMOV pulled off a coup, luring Larry Conners back from a cross-town competitor to join Julius Hunter at the desk.
They remained a team until Hunter’s retirement in 2002. Conners anchored the news at KMOV for 25 years.
