ST. LOUIS, Mo. – As part of News 4’s 60th Anniversary, we’re looking back at the biggest moments in the past 60 years.  We’re remembering the 1981 welcome home party for Iranian hostage Rocky Sickmann.

Rocky Sickmann returned to a rousing reception at Lambert Airport.

He was from Washington, Missouri, but on that day St. Louis was his adopted home-town.

Sickmann arrived in an Ozark Airlines plane, specially outfitted with a giant, yellow ribbon; the national symbol of support during the hostage crisis.

When Sickmann finally entered, Al Wiman was there to grab the first short interview.

Rocky Sickmann married his girlfriend, raised a family and enjoyed a successful career with Anheuser-Busch.
