(BaseballStL) -- The Giants added another run in the fifth inning on some sloppy play in the outfield to push their lead to 4-0.
Juan Perez singled to center to give the Giants a base-runner to lead off the inning and he came around to score on a ball Hunter Pence roped to left center field. Allen Craig, starting in left instead of Matt Holliday, sliped and fell while attempting to field the ball.
Then a fly ball from Buster Posey caught Jon Jay and Craig out of position that allowed Pence to move up a base on the sacrifice fly.
Marco Gonzales walked Pablo Sandoval and Michael Morse to load the bases and end his night at 4.1 innings pitched to bring in Seth Maness to try to get a double play ball.
Maness got a ground ball, but it was too slow and only resulted in one out and a run scored, but Maness got another ground ball out from Brandon Crawford to end the inning with the Giants leading 5-0.
Neither the Cardinals or the Giants could send anyone else across the plater. Randy Choate and Jason Motter relieved Gonzales and kept the Giants from scoring any further runs.

In his major league debut last week, the Colorado Rockies batted around off Marco Gonzales. And it was the fourth inning again Tuesday against the San Francicsco Giants that gave Gonzales trouble as the young lefty gave up three runs.
The damage started with the lead off batter, Hunter Pence, who reached base with a single to center. He came around to score the first run of the game off a Buster Posey double. Then 'Kung Fo Panda' Pablo Sandoval took Gonzales deep to left field, just out of the reach of Allen Craig's glove for a two run shot.
Gonzales then gave up his fourth straight hit and second double of the inning to Michael Morse. After getting two outs, a strike out and fly out, Gonzales intentionally walked Brandon Hicks to bring in Tim Lincecum with runners on first and second.
Gonzales then ran the count full to his counterpart Lincecum before getting him to groundout to first, but it took 11 pitches to retire Lincecum.
The three runs hurt worse as the Cardinals came off their half of the fourth with bases loaded and no outs that ended up producing zero runs. Jhonny Peralta smashed a double followed by a single to center from Matt Adams. Yadier Molina was hit by the pitch to load the bases.
But Lincecum survived by getting back-to-back strikeouts from Allen Craig and Jon Jay and a groundout from Daniel Descalso.
