(KMOV.com) – Thieves are going after copper wire in dangerous places.
Recently, one thief was seen cutting power to a cell phone tower along Metropolitan Blvd. in Pevely. When the suspect was seen, another suspect started escaping by running toward Interstate 55.
A cell phone tower worker tried to chase the suspect down, but he was not successful.
A chain link fence was cut, and copper wires worth about $4,600 were ripped through buried piping.
So far, the suspects have not been caught.
