(KMOV) – A 40-year-old woman faces charges stemming from the 2009 death of an 18-month-old boy at her Wentzville in-home daycare.

Lisa West surrendered herself to St. Charles County authorities on Monday and is being held on felony child abuse charges.

According to the indictment, Mason Beach died while being cared for by West at her home in the 600 block of Autumn Creek Dr. on Sept. 8, 2009.

The indictment says West "knowlingly inflicted cruel and inhuman punishment upon (Beach)" by hitting him in the head.

Beach later died from the head injuries, according to the indicment.

West remains in custody on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
