(KMOV) – Crews on Monday continued to clean up an oil spill in Marion County, Ill. that forced officials to close down Route 51.
According to officials, approximately 500 barrels of crude oil spilled at the Patoka Tank Farm on Sunday.
U.S. 51 remained closed from Kinoka Rd. To Vernon until about 9:30 a.m. Monday. while crews worked to clear the spill.
Officials say crews will continue to close residue from the road, but plan on keeping the highway open.
