ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Police have made an arrest in a north St. Louis hit-and-run accident that killed 54-year-old Charles Beard.
Police tweeted on Friday afternoon that a 27-year-old man surrendered to 5th district officers in connection to that accident on that happened on June 20.
According to police, a red Pontiac and a BMW were speeding west on Cook Avenue near Sarah when the cars lost control, hit the bicyclist and kept going around 9:00 p.m.
Authorities said the cyclist, Beard, was wearing reflective clothing at the time of the accident.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
Police said they are trying to increase enforcement in the area. Authorities said they have issued 50 citations to drivers. However, residents said speeding is still a problem.
