ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV) – Police say a man accused of breaking into a St. Charles restaurant has already confessed to three other break-ins in the area.

Dallas Thomas, 24, was charged Tuesday with burglary, property damage and attempted stealing after he allegedly broke into King Edward’s Chicken restaurant in the 1200 block of S. Duchesne between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

After his arrest, Thomas confessed to burglarizing at least three other nearby businesses, including Shear Perfection and Timothy’s Irish Pub. All of them are located within a few blocks of each other.

Additional charges are expected for the other burglaries.

Police say surveillance video caught Thomas in the act. One video showed him take off his mask.

“He routinely would go through the back door, force the back door, hitting places he knew would probably readily have cash available at that time,” said Sgt. Todd Wilson with the St. Charles Police Department. “He would take what he could find by breaking into cash registers mainly.”

There were also four burglaries in downtown Wentzville in the last few weeks. Police said they are not leaning toward Thomas as a suspect, but are not ruling anything out.

He remains in custody on a $20,000 cash bond.
