ST. LOUIS ( -- A St. Louis woman is recovering in a local hospital in critical condition after a hit and run driver broke nearly every bone in her body.

The accident happened in north St. Louis on Billups Avenue off of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. The victim’s mother is furious that no one has been caught despite the fact that several people witnessed the accident.

“She broke her left leg in four places,” said the victim’s mother Donna Johnson.  “She broke her right leg in three places.  She's got a cracked collar bone, she has several fractures in her face and she has a cracked skull. She’s suffering.  She’s in a lot of pain.”

Right now police only know that Johnson’s 35-year-old daughter was talking with a family member in the 1700 block of Billups Avenue on Friday between 9:30 and 10 p.m. when a dark blue or black, four-door Ford Focus traveling South hit her.

The victim’s mother suspects it was intentional, and that is why people are reluctant to provide more details.

The St. Louis Police Department says intentional or not, someone left the scene of an accident and it needs the public’s help in figuring out who that was.

“All I’m asking is just call the police,” said Johnson.  “You don’t have to give your name, just give the information, please!  Just let them know who hit my child.”
