Mayor Slay sends off second truck of donations to Sandy victims

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Mayor Francis Slay will send a second truck of donated goods to Sandy victims in Newark, New Jersey Monday afternoon.

The mayor, along with St. Louis marketing agency Switch, area businesses, media, the American Red Cross and civic leaders in the St. Louis area, created #STLforSandy to help Hurricane Sandy victims.

Donations were collected at the Kirkwood Commons in Kirkwood and Soldier's Memorial in downtown St. Louis. Donations included clothing, food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and diapers.

The truck was scheduled to leave at 12:30 p.m. Monday from Switch's offices on Manchester. It was projected toarrive at New Hope Baptist Church in New Jersey on Wednesday.

The first truck of sent donations arrived at 8 a.m. Monday and were accepted by Newark Mayor Cory Booker.
