ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Two construction workers were injured when part of a fire-damaged apartment building collapsed in midtown St. Louis on Sunday.
The accident happened at 3949 Lindell, an apartment building that was gutted by a five-alarm fire in July.
A construction crew was apparently working inside the building when part of a stairwell caved in just after 2 p.m. Falling concrete injured two men, who were taken to a local hospital in unknown condition. A third man was able to escape the building without injury.
Multiple ambulances and fire crews responded to the collapse. Officials say no firefighters were hurt in the rescue operation.
The two injured men are expected to recover.
