Police: Car thieves make off with vehicle, U-Haul trailer

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly stole a Metro-East man's vehicle and attached U-Haul, then ditched the stolen vehicle in St. Louis.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Ludwig Drive in Fairview Heights around 8:30 a.m. to investigate a stolen vehicle report. A man told police his Subaru Forrester and an attached moving trailer had been stolen from the parking lot.
Later, St. Louis City police were investigating a report of suspicious activity in the 1400 block of Angelica when they found the stolen vehicle and U-Haul. Police say the contents of the vehicle and trailer had been removed and spread on the ground. The victim identified various items missing, including some electronic equipment.
According to police, witnesses in the area identified two black males as suspects. These witnesses told police they saw the suspects enter the car and drive away with the trailer attached. Officials say a surveillance camera in the area also recorded the theft.
