(KMOV) – A 17-year-old male was charged Wednesday in two separate gas station robberies.

According to the Belleville Police, Roger W. Harris of Cahokia has been charged with felony aggravated robbery of the Gas Mart at 1001 E. Main St., and felony armed robbery of the Conoco at 420 Carlyle Ave.

Other suspects were involved in both robberies, according to police and witnesses.

On June 4, two males wearing hoodies reportedly entered Gas Mart then one suspect placed the store clerk in a headlock while the other suspect took money from the cash register. Then on Aug. 8, three males all wearing ski masks and armed with a semi-automatic handgun reportedly held the clerk of Conoco at gun point and ordered cash.

Harris was arrested after multiple police units including a K-9 unit responded to the Aug. 8 robbery at Conoco. Officers observed Harris tossing cash into nearby bushes as they approached. According to officers, in addition to matching a suspect description Harris was sweating and out of breath when police reached him.

Harris is being held on $250,000 bail.
