ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A suspect has been released from the hospital after an officer-involved shooting in north St. Louis Monday afternoon.

The shooting happened in the 4100 block of Kossuth, and according to authorities, officers pulled over the suspect's vehicle because he was driving erratically. The suspect, who has been identified as Nikolas Roby, from St. Louis, then ran from the vehicle and began climbing chain-linked fences to get away from the pursuing officers.

A 27-year-old officer spotted a gun in the Roby's hand and demanded that he drop the weapon. The suspect continued running, ignoring the officer's demands, officials say.

The officer then shot the Roby in the leg and groin after he had turned and pointed the gun at him.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where he was released on Friday.  No officers were injured.

On Wednesday, the Circuit Attorney's Office issued warrants against Roby for unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.  His bond has been set at $30,000 cash only.

The officer who shot Roby has been on the police force for nearly six years and was place on administrative leave following the incident.
