(KMOV.com) -- Mayor Francis Slay was in attendance when Lumiere Place casino made a sizable donation to the AmeriCorps Disaster Relief fund to further assist relief efforts in Joplin, Missouri.
AmeriCorps St. Louis is one of the nation's most recognized national service disaster relief progams. On Friday, Lumiere Place casino and hotel donated more than $10,000 worth of desperately needed equipment to assist emergency response teams in Joplin, Missouri.
"Reliable, up-to-date equipment is critical to our operations in the field and our ongoing efforts would not be possible without the generosity of Lumiere Place," said Will Shaffner, Chairman of the Board of Directors, AmeriCorps St. Louis. "Lumiere team members actually took it upon themselves to locate, procure and deliver these items to us and for that, we are extremely grateful."
The Lumiere Place team members delivered the following items on Friday:
2 - 3700 PSI Pressure washers
2 - 7500 watt gas powered generators
4 - Pop-Up tents for volunteers
2 - 30' fiberglass extension ladders
4 - 100' extension cords
2 - STIHL HT 110 pole saws
Four dozen rubber knee-high boots (assorted sizes)
Four dozen heavy duty rubber gloves
Four dozen florescent high-visibility vests
