ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- On Wednesday around 1:30 p.m. Ameren Missouri had to take a substation in Midtown out of service to make repairs after a cable failed Tuesday night. Ameren Missouri reports the first phase of the repair is complete and that customers’ power has been restored.
The planned outage will affect the area approximately within Martin Luther King Drive (north), Garrison Avenue (east), Lindell Boulevard (south) and Taylor (west). Ameren estimates 5,000 customers, including the Fox Theatre and Grand Center will be affected.
The repairs are being made to prevent a more widespread and extensive outage. Ameren officials estimate that the outage could last up to 12 hours. Crews are exercising extreme caution during the repair due to the high voltage cables they have to work around in close quarters.
