(KMOV) – The St. Charles School District plans to run its own bus system as a result of budget cuts for the upcoming school year creating longer waits, new bus stops and routes.
The district added a third bus route for both the morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off which will lead to students waiting longer for their buses.
Superintendant Randal Charles says older children will wait longer for the bus as a safety precaution as daylight will become more of a factor in the wintertime.
Charles told News 4 that although he prefers only two bus routes, he believes the system went “pretty good” for the first day of school.
Bus coordinators have also mapped out routes that students will not have to cross any four-lane roads in order to catch the bus.
