(KMOV) -- Police are searching for a suspect who they believe is responsible for several house fires in Washington Park, IL.

The Washington Park Fire Department reports the latest fires happened within minutes of each other in the 1700 block of 59th Street Tuesday around 10:30 p.m.

Members from the fire department say they believe the same person is responsible for these and several fires set in Washington Park over the past few days.

This week, the fire department reports they've responded to over a dozen house fires. In each case, the fires broke out in vacant homes.

The Washington Park Fire Department reports the suspected arsonist usually sets fire to the homes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday's between the hours of 10:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m.

The fire department says the latest fire was unusual because two fires broke out within minutes of each other in the same block.

Normally, the suspected arsonist sets one fire and then waits several hours or days before setting another one.

No one was injured in the fires. Police do not have any information on any suspects at this time.
