MidAmerica Airport losing chances for international cargo flights

(KMOV) – St. Clair County may lose $250,000 on MidAmerica Airport with a major deadline approaching.

The airport has no passenger service and has no way of offering cargo services since the airport does not have a warehouse facility.

Two years ago, a New York business man was given $250,000 to build a cargo warehouse by the end of next month.  The warehouse has not broken ground yet.

MidAmerica Airport may soon lose out on a chance for international cargo flights, primarily from China, from Lambert Airport.

Boeing currently uses the only warehouse on the airport’s property.

September 30 is the deadline to break ground on a warehouse facility.
