Police searching for suspects in south city used car lot break-in

(KMOV) -- Police are searching for the men responsible for an attempted burglary at a used car lot in south St. Louis City.

Reports say the break-in happened at the Cardinal Motors used car lot located at 2901 Arsenal Street Tuesday morning around 3:45 a.m.

It's being reported that three men broke into the building in south city. A witness reported seeing the men roaming the lot around 3:30 a.m. when he called police.

When police arrived on the scene they found the windows smashed out of Cardinal Motors office building, the front doors busted in and the garage door partially open.

After police arrived on the scene, the three men fled on foot. The suspects were last seen running eastbound on Juanita towards Nebraska. They are described as all approximately 6’ tall, all with medium builds, all wearing white t-shirts and blue jeans. One suspect had on a black baseball cap. 

Authorities say the suspects did not break into any cars on the lot and did not get away with any cars. There is no information on what the suspects may have stolen at this time. It is not clear at  if the men are armed.

Police believe the three men were at a local gas station before the break-in. Police are not aware of any surveillance video at this time.
