ALTON, Ill. (AP) -- A southern Illinois father has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for weapons charges after his 4-year-old son accidentally shot his 2-year-old brother in the chest last year.
Quanotho Kyles was sentenced Friday. He pleaded guilty in March to federal charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Kyles was watching his two sons at his Alton home when the shooting occurred on June 4, 2008.
Alton police say the older boy shot his brother with a gun that Kyles says he found in his yard two weeks earlier, but had not reported. The younger boy recovered from his injuries.
In 1998, Kyles shot and killed his own brother in an argument over money. Kyles was convicted of second-degree murder and served 2.5 years of an eight-year prison sentence.
