McDonald's patron sues after hepatitis outbreak at Illinois restaurant

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (AP) -- Officials estimate 4,000 people will receive preventive shots by the end of a two-day clinic organized in response to a hepatitis A outbreak in northwestern Illinois.

The clinic held at Rock Island High School ends today. People who ate at a McDonald's in Milan on certain dates were advised to get the shots.

Also today, an attorney who specializes in food safety filed a lawsuit against McDonald's.

The lawsuit was filed in Rock Island County Circuit Court on behalf of Cody Patterson of Milan. The lawsuit claims a McDonald's in Milan allowed one or more employees to work while infected and that Patterson ate there during that time.

Oak Brook-based McDonald's Corp. spokeswoman Danya Proud says health officials haven't confirmed the source of the outbreak.
