(KMOV) -- A student was arrested after bringing a gun to Ritenour High School.
Ritenour school district spokesman Doug Bray told News 4 that a gun was found in the backpack of a student. The incident began sometime late Monday morning when a teacher became suspicious after hearing students muttering about a possible weapon.
Administration officials were called. The student's backpack was searched and the gun was found. It’s not clear if it was loaded or what type of gun it was.
Police were then called and the student was taken into custody by Breckinridge Hill police.
The student in question was a senior at the school and charges are expected to be filed next Tuesday, November 10th.
The student has been suspended and the school will now go on with their process which could lead to expulsion.
The school was never locked down and no one was threatened explicitly. Bray didn't know if the child cited any reason for bringing the gun.
There was another incident in the district where a child brought a gun to school. That incident occurred September 9th.
