Construction workers honored after saving driver from burning car

Last month a group of construction workers acted quickly to save a driver from a burning car.

This happened in Alton along River Heritage Parkway when the driver apparently dozed off and hit a barrier.

Those brace construction workers were honored at city hall in Alton Wednesday.

The mayor awarded the 7 men with a proclamation.

Also in the audience was the young man they saved, 24 year old Michael McKenna who for the first time got to thank his rescuers

Michael McKenna is still in a wheelchair recovering from a fractured hip, but he has no burns from the fiery crash.
