MANCHESTER, Mo. (KMOV) – Authorities say a dozen girls have contacted the Manchester Police Department about a 19-year-old St. Louis County man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at a local park.
Police said Joshua D. Witkowski, of Winchester, is charged with felony sexual assault after he allegedly brought the victim to a secluded area in a Manchester neighborhood park and raped her.
Witkowski, who was 18 at the time of the alleged incident, was taken into custody on Tuesday.
After News 4 ran a story about Witkowski, Manchester police said they received at least a dozen calls from girls in connection to his arrest. Police said they believe that number will eventually triple.
On Wednesday, Manchester PD officials said the “phones are still ringing” regarding Witkowski, though the number of victims were not immediately clear.
According to police, roughly 75 percents of the girls who called said they had been sexually assaulted by Witkowski. Most of the assaults took place in west St. Louis County, police said.
Authorities said a lot of the time Witkowski will befriend the victims at West County parks or on Facebook.
A teen who described himself as a close friend of Witkowski’s emailed News 4. He said he was glad Witkowski got caught and wants everyone his age to know they should stay away from him.
