(BaseballStL) -- Remember earlier in the season when the Indians came to town and their tough talking closer and former Cardinal Chris Perez raised eyebrows by declaring St. Louis made a mistake letting him go and keeping Jason Motte.
You would be hard pressed to find anyone in Cardinals Nation that would agree with Perez.
Monday night against the Reds Motte got his 41st save of the season. Perez is sitting on 39.
Motte's performance in 2012 is historic. To date, no other pitcher in the Cards bullpen has a save. That's right, Jason Motte has all of the Cardinals' save this season. If that holds true through the last two games of the season it would be a first for a Cards pitcher.
