(BaseballStL) -- The Cardinals are one win or one loss away from a trip to the post season. With Monday night's 4-2 win over the Reds the magic number for the Cards is down to one with two games to play.
It may not matter thought as it all depends on the outcome of the Dodgers-Giants game underway right now in Los Angeles. A loss to the Giants would eliminate LA from the wild card race and punch the Cardinals' ticket to play Atlanta in the one-game wild card play in game.
If the Dodgers lose it could give the Cardinals an opportunity for some days off for key players that are nursing nagging injuries. It could also give Manager Mike Matheny the chance to adjust his rotation so that it is primed for Atlanta and what comes next if the Cardinals can pull of the win.
In 2011 the Cardinals beat out the Braves to win a post-season berth. Could it happen again?
