Experienced OL Fisher to play Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (Missouri Football App) -- Coach Pinkel told reporters on Monday that sixth-year senior offensive lineman Elvis Fisher will play on Saturday against Vanderbilt.  Fisher will practice this week and will be used in a limited role when the Tigers play the Commodores.

Fisher has been held out the past few games due to a MCL injury suffered during the game against Georgia.

Despite great rushing numbers from running back Kendial Lawrence, the offensive line has been anything but consistent.  Quarterback James Franklin has not been as stellar as advertised coming in to 2012, but the offensive line been lacking fluidity due to constant injuries.

Pinkel said another injured offensive lineman Jack Meiners would play Saturday as well.

“Having Elvis back will certainly helps us,” said Pinkel.  “He has a ton of experience.  We’ve been moving offensive lineman around all season.  It’s even good for Elvis’s mood too.  He’s a captain and hopefully he can stay healthy for the rest of the season.”

With Meiners and Fisher back, the Tigers offense should play better as a cohesive unit.  In 2011, we saw how good Franklin and the rest of the offense can be when the Tigers are firing on all cylinders.  And on Saturday, Mizzou looks to prove just how explosive their offense can be.
