FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV) -- The Fairview Heights Fire Department is getting a new building without raising taxes or buying bonds.

The new $3.5 million building is being funded by a low-interest loan, part of which will be paid for by the old fire house.

Chief Brian Doyle told News 4 the old fire house, which is located in a busy retail stretch of Lincoln Highway, could be sold at auction for $500,000.

The new fire house, located a few blocks away, will give the department more room for larger fire trucks and other equipment.
