(KMOV) – Authorities say a man caught trying to break into a Maplewood home on Friday was arrested after he climbed out onto the roof.
William Whaley, 32, was charged with second-degree burglary and felony theft.
According to police, officers responded to a burglary call in the 3200 block of S. Big Bend Blvd. and found Whaley still inside the house holding a black duffel bag.
Police said Whaley climbed onto the roof of the home but eventually surrendered. Authorities later discovered he had taken several pieces of gold jewelry which he’d put in the bag.
He was arrested and is currently being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $15,000 bail.
