(KMOV) -- A teenager has died after being hit in the face with an arrow.

This happened in a wooded area off North Fork Drive in Byrnes Mill, Missouri late Thursday afternoon.

Police say that Jared Winters, 20, and the 15-year-old, Ryan Sargent, victim were deer hunting in the wooded area behind their houses.

According to police, Winters and Sargent were playfully pointed their bows at each other.  That's when police say Winters accidently struck his friend with an arrow.

Winters has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Sargent was taken to St. Anthony's hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Sargent's school remembered him with a moment of silence before their football game Friday night.

Winters is now facing involuntary manslaughter and first-degree assault charges.

Family members say the two boys were good friends and lived in the same neighborhood.

Winters bond has been set at $10,000.

Byrnes Mill is about 35 miles southwest of St. Louis.
