CREVE COEUR, Mo. (AP) -- The world's 300th Ronald McDonald House is opening in suburban St. Louis.
A dedication ceremony was scheduled for Wednesday at the Ronald McDonald House at St. John's Mercy Medical Center.
Ronald McDonald Houses provide lodging and other services for families of children receiving treatment for life-threatening conditions such as cancer, heart disease and birth defects. The first one opened 36 years ago in Philadelphia.
The new $4.5 million Ronald McDonald House at St. John's is the third in the St. Louis area. It's expected to serve about 700 families each year.
