(KMOV)-- A Vandalia man is in custody after leading police in a chase.
Richard W. Talley, 17, sped off after being stopped by a deputy for an equipment violation on Thursday, around 12:40 a.m.
The suspect led police down North Highway 47 beginning at Maple Drive, at speeds up to 85 mph. The pursuit ended on North Highway 47 at Blue Jay Road where police placed spikes on the ground. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot.
Talley was taken into custody a short distance from the vehicle, and was in possession of a hand gun.
Police found Talley’s car to be reported stolen. The suspect was also wanted for questioning in a burglary that occurred in Pike County Missouri.
The suspect is being charged with resisting arrest, unlawful use of weapon and careless imprudent driving.
