(KMOV)-- Police are trying to figure out how a 70-year-old man died in south St. Louis.
Authorities said William Umfleet's body was found around 4:30 a.m. in the middle of the intersection of Louisiana and Eichelberger. It is unclear at this time, if Umfleet was struck by a vehicle or if he died by some other means. There are some injuries that are consistent with being struck by a vehicle and other injuries that are not.
Witnesses reported hearing arguing in the street and later seeing a light colored, 4-door vehicle that was driven by a white male, leaving the area.
Authorities are classifying the case as a "suspicious death" pending results from an autopsy. The Medical Examiner has not yet begun the autopsy.
Umfleet was a school bus monitor who was on his way to work.
