Carbondale police probe student's deadly fall

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) -- Police in Carbondale are investigating the death of a Southern Illinois University student who apparently fell from a roof during what investigators call "a social gathering."
Investigators say 21-year-old Daniel Seidl of the Chicago suburb of Evergreen Park died Sunday at a hospital after being found unresponsive outside the home.
SIU spokesman Rod Sievers says Seidl was a sophomore studying journalism.
Police haven't said if they believe alcohol factored into the death. Autopsy results weren't released.
Sievers calls the case "a terrible tragedy."
Services for Seidl will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Evergreen Park.
