Watching reservists step off bus into loved ones' arms... Nothing better.

I was talking still photos for our website.  My colleague Steve was shooting video for TV.  After a hectic, but joyous ten minutes or so we put our cameras down for a moment and looked at each other.

"Did you get choked up?" asked Steve.  "Yeah, kinda,"  I replied.  We shared a gratifying nod and smiled.

You don't get that feeling covering news every day.  Such satisfaction.  This was great.  We've both covered this sort of thing before.  It's always pretty much the same.  But unlike a mayor's news conference (sorry Mayor) this kind of story doesn't get old or feel boring or anything like that.

You feel like a kid at a big party... and even though the party had nothing to do with us, it didn't matter.  Being surrounded by so much happiness rubs off on you... at least for a little while.
